Department
The Librarian works under defined objectives and procedures to undertake information gathering and research services; manages library collections including acquisition, cataloguing, and availing; provides references, bibliographical, and readers' advisory services.

- Contribute to formulation and implementation of Library Annual Budget.
- Monitor the utilization of the administrative and budgetary functions of library and information services.
- Develop and maintain collections management policies and procedures.
- Develop and maintain special indexing systems and files for special collections.
- Provide research and reference support to the Library Users using computer based tools and online services.
- Search external database programs for the availability of cataloguing copy.
- Ensure efficient retrieval by users.
- Determine the type of cataloguing required for each kind of documents.
- Catalogue information on items collected into the library's automated system.
- Process resources for placement on shelf.
- Index and classify library books.
- Provide library services in response to the information needs of library users;
- Provide effective access to library collections and resources.
- Undertake accurate inventory of resources.
- Maintain inventories, compile statistics and generate reports as required.
- Ensure that library materials are current and accessible, and available to library users when required.
- Maintain the library learning resources centre.
- Contribute to preparing library products and services (e.g. Library Newsletter, secondary sources of information).
- Provide an inter library loan service of library materials and maintain records.
- Evaluate materials to identify outdated or unused items to be discarded.
- Work with IT Department to solve access and systems’ related problems. Moreover, contribute to the implementation of the Library management system & intranet site and update the contents of the library homepage.
- Identify and recommends new journals and newspapers subscriptions.
- Process subscription to journals.
- Process subscription to online resources (newspapers, journals and databases).
- Identify, evaluate, select and purchase/ renew print and online products and services (such as books, periodicals, newspapers, CD-Rom, reports, journal articles etc.)
- Place document orders with dealers, publishers.
- Submit payment requests and maintain payment records.
- Receive checks and verify publications and invoices.
- Order materials and maintain records for payment of invoices.
- Review and submit publishers and vendors invoices for processing.
- Answer queries, and communicates invoices payment to information services suppliers.
- Review monthly credit card statement settlement to Finance Control Department.
- Review Petty Cash settlement to Finance Control Department.
- Receive and respond to staff information requests and needs.
- Record all the queries received and the answers provided.
- Initiate the use of automated catalogue and other library electronic resources.
- Respond to daily on-site requests for information.
- Provide guidance to library users to effectively search the Library catalogue, Internet and other electronic resources.
- Provide technical advice to library staff in duties such as receiving, shelving, researching, cataloguing, and equipment use.
Experience
8 years relevant experience with Bachelor degree, or 5 years with Master
Qualifications
Bachelor or Matser degree in Library Science / any related discipline
